Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains how The Venue App Ltd ("Etoya", "we", "us") handles personal data when you use the Etoya app and this website. We are the data controller for this data. You can contact us at admin@etoyaapp.com or by post at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, name, username, profession, field, interests and, if you choose, your city or town.
- Profile content: photos, a short biography, links and anything you post, including posts, replies, Moments (short videos), messages in chats and signatures on walls.
- Verification: information you provide to confirm your identity or status.
- Meetups and meetings: meetups you host or join, applications, invitations, reviews and the exact address shared with confirmed guests.
- Location: only if you turn on showing yourself on the map, at the precision you choose (city, area or exact point), and only while you use the app. You can turn it off at any time, and Ghost mode hides you.
- Availability: where and when you say you are open to meet, if you share it.
- Purchases: records of coins and subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your card details.
- Device and usage data: push notification tokens, app version, crash reports and basic diagnostics.
How we use it
- To provide the club: your profile, feeds, meetups, personal meetings, chats, the map and notifications.
- To keep members safe: verification, moderation of reports, blocking and preventing misuse.
- To process purchases and grant coins, statuses and subscriptions.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
- To contact you about your account and important changes.
Our legal bases under UK and EU data protection law are the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe club, your consent where we ask for it (such as location and notifications), and legal obligations.
Who can see your data
Other members see your profile and what you share according to your settings. Some statuses are discreet and shown only to people already connected to them. Exact meetup addresses are shown only to confirmed guests.
We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf: cloud hosting and database (Supabase), in-app purchase management (RevenueCat), app builds and push notifications (Expo), error monitoring (Sentry), map tiles and place search based on OpenStreetMap (OpenFreeMap, Photon by Komoot) and website hosting (Vercel). Apple and Google process purchases under their own policies. We do not sell personal data.
Some providers may process data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. Moments disappear after 24 hours unless you pin them. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records by law (for example purchase records) or to resolve disputes.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account in the app under Settings, Account, or by writing to us. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Age
Etoya is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change and tell you in the app about significant changes.
